Last year we started publishing some of our favorite links for the week each Friday, we called them Flavlets.
We loved the idea so much that we toyed with creating a new site to post them at. But unfortunately there just weren’t enough hours in the day to invest the kind of time we needed to keep our idea really going the way we wanted to. So somewhere along the line we just plumb forgot to post any more Flavlets.
So we are bringing them back. Now that we have twice the eyes as we did last year we think each week should bring an interesting cross-section of what we think is interesting on the web.
- I love typography and who doesn’t. This nice little site shows a lot of promise for anyone who loves to talk about type.
- Give your Mac Book or Mac Book Pro some added ventilation with some cool feet. These easy to stick on support allow air to flow under your laptop and give it an added ergonomic angle. Now you’ll no longer have to listen to a plane taking off every time you open PhotoShop.
- Apple last week profiles Flash artist Joshua Davis. If you haven’t read it, do so now. The man is amazing.
- …embracing the medium as something different from print. From Khoi Vinh’s primer on getting print designers into web design. Good read.
- Keep that iPhone spam free by following Garrett’s Gmail+IMAP tutorial.
- Wondering why you’re feeling like your boss is making way more money? Check out this enlightening infographic and realized it might not all be in your head.
- Garrett Dimon has been posting some great interaction design insights this month as he’s been working through a bug tracking system he’s designing and building.
- Should Do This is a suggestion box for the world. An interesting concept, SDT looks for the most part like product feedback from people without realistic boundaries. From the Apple Should Do This list: “Sell HDTVs” and “Fire Steve Jobs again.”
- After watching the Back to the Future trilogy for the first time in years, Garrett spent some time reading the insanely extensive Back to the Future timeline on Wikipedia.
- Brian gave a little demo of Leaflets over at the Microsoft campus last week and is currently being featured on the MIX site.
- It is SXSW Panel Picker time again. Here are some of the talks we are involved with:
- The fall speaking season seems to be in full swing. Don’t forget to register for some upcoming events we are speaking at:
- 9/21 Webmaster Jam Session Dallas, TX
- 9/27 Web Directions South Sydney, Australia
- 10/2 Mobile Web Americas Orlando, FL
- 10/15 Mobile 2.0 San Francisco, CA
- 11/7 Future of Web Design New York, NY
- 11/14 Future of Mobile London, England
- Finally…one word: Rock!
