BarCamp Seattle right around the corner

Seattleites, if you’re looking for a fun and exciting web community event to attend, look no further than Blue Flavor’s own neighborhood of Fremont, right here in Seattle. June 14th and 15th, the first ever BarCamp Seattle will be taking place at Adobe’s Fremont building (801 N 34th St., Seattle, WA 98103). Attendees are welcome to attend one or both days of the event. There’s also a party planned for Saturday night.

According to the BarCamp Seattle website:

BarCampSeattle is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees. It is an international network of user generated non-traditional social conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats. Oh and super fun!!

The basic idea behind BarCamp is to “open-source” the organizational process of running a conference. It’s been called an “unconference,” and BarCamps have occurred in many cities around the world. For more on the BarCamp phenomenon, check out the BarCamp entry in Wikipedia

Several of us at Blue Flavor are planning to attend BarCamp Seattle, and there are currently over 90 people registered. It should be a great time and learning experience for everyone. If you’re interested, go register — it’s free!
