Martine designed and built her first website at the tender age of 12. We’re quite sure you’d forgive her the animated flowers that bloomed in the margins and the classic starfield background that twinkled behind purple Comic Sans content. We’re also sure it was very charming.
She spent the next few years learning web development, working on her high school’s website, her county’s tourism website, and PurplePJs.com (an online magazine for teenage girls), where she ultimately became much more than a coder; managing a team of 50+ columnists and editors. While her role there has scaled down a bit, she’s still involved with web design and development for the site, as well as a mentor to the community there.
Somewhere along the way she began to shift to more professional coding practices, focusing on standards-compliance, accessibility, and search engine marketing.
In 2005 she accepted a web developer position with FindLaw. In her first two years with FindLaw, she transformed over 1000 Photoshop designs into accessible standards-compliant websites. In 2007 she was promoted to a position in which she focused on orchestrating the efforts of both in-house developers and off-shore vendors.
Martine’s a smart one; In 2008 she enrolled at the University of Minnesota Law School to pursue a J.D. Shortly thereafter she joined the team here at Blue Flavor where she works part-time as our go-to code ninja. Two moves we know will take her great places in life.
